Signs of a foodborne illnesses
Foodborne illness is caused by people consuming micro-organisms or toxins on food. Each year it is estimated that 1 in 10 people will suffer from a foodborne illness.

You need to look out for the following symptoms:-
  • Diarrhoea
  • Stomach ache
  • Vomiting
  • Nausea
  • Fever

Symptoms usually begin several days after eating the contaminated food but can come on much quicker.  If symptoms are mild they will usually go on their own or you can speak to a pharmacist or NHS Direct for advice.  If you are very unwell you should speak to your doctor.

Where possible avoid preparing food for yourself of others until you have fully recovered.
